It's cold. It has been cold since Christmas. Running, biking, walking outside can be painful it is so cold. What to do... what to do. I know. Hot soup! I am going to make hot soup!
If I stop thinking solely about the cold, and what I can actually do to feel better, then I will feel better. I'll stop being so preoccupied with the weather and focusing on what will put me in a better state. Shifting my focus can be a powerful way to deal with something unpleasant. I will shift focus from the challenge to the solutions, and then enact one or more solutions. If I do nothing but think about how much I hate the cold... I am stuck. But if I start to think about and focus on what I can do... I'm back in control of my life.
Yes it is cold...
...but look! Soup! Hot soup!
